The New Workshop

Well finally construction of the new workshop has begun ...

the concrete is poured and a pathway set out around the slab ...

and finally work on the base is complete ... 2 weeks to dry and then up with the building!! :-)

Today we took delivery of our new tractor..... A Kubota B3030 with front loader.

Today we visit Jayne at Zanzibah Alpacas.... Jayne's animals are simply fantastic! Thanks for a lovely time!

Our first baby alpaca

Our first baby alpaca was born at Uppermill today, Salsa gave birth to a healthy cria at around 3pm.
The cria was up on his feet within an hour. We have called him Rufus :-)
Both mum and baby are doing great!

No water at the trough solution...

Well due to our water coming from a well some areas of Uppermill were without water...... the polytunnel for one and some water troughs. Decided to put together a small water bowser on a trailer along with a clean water pump. Here is the result....

The tank holds 250L and can be emptied with the pump in about 3 minutes!!

In the bottom image you can see Max (the white one) Holly (far left) and her baby Hamish (the little black one) and finally Havanna the brown one close to Max. Salsa is missing from this picture

Following what felt like a long period of living in limbo while our house in Aberdeen was up for sale we finally found a buyer who wanted to move in very quickly. This of course mean't crazed weekends of house hunting which for a time seemed quite depressing as we simply couldn't find what we wanted. Then with only 2 weeks to spare we found Uppermill Farm. We moved in on the 1st July 2011 and I guess this blog will follow the journey of a boy originally from London relocating from Aberdeen City to the Aberdeenshire countryside!
